Why does my Philips Avent Cup scale differ from the packaging?

The scale on the outside of the cup allows you to determine the volume of the liquid in the cup. It is possible to fill the cup above this scale. The volume indicated on the packaging is higher. It varies per cup size and could be as high as up to the rim of the cup.
Some examples of the cups and volumes indicated are shown in the image below.

Example SCF751 Premium spout cup series

A – Maximum scale on the outside of the cup 150 ml/5 oz
B – Volume indicated on the packaging 200 ml/7 oz

Please note: As stated in the user manual, this spout cup is not designed for preparing infant formula. Do not use the spout cup to mix and shake infant formula as this can clog the holes and cause the spout cup to leak.
