The scales are placed on a slanting or an uneven surface. Put the kitchen scales on a stable, level and horizontal surface.

You used a bowl to weigh ingredients and used the reset/tare button to deduct the weight of the bowl. When you remove the bowl from the weighing plate, the display shows a negative weight. Press the reset/tare button to reset the display to 0.
