A universal platform for musculoskeletal ultrasound

Musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders are the leading contributor to disability worldwide, and are projected to continue to increase, due in part to an aging population.1 In addition, worldwide obesity has nearly tripled since 1975 and obesity is linked to a range of MSK conditions.2 Widely available and cost-effective, ultrasound can provide images of soft tissues that do not show up well on X-ray images. It also can be used to guide procedures such as needle biopsies and fluid aspiration and to image joints in motion.

Easy workflow and excellent image quality

Our ultrasound systems combine easy workflow and excellent image quality to bring a new level of confidence in musculoskeletal ultrasound – from soft tissue diagnosis and blood flow assessment to motion studies and procedure guidance. The eL18-4 PureWave transducer delivers exceptional resolution and penetration, while our mL26-8 transducer offers our highest frequency in micro-linear format for superficial imaging. Additionally, Philips offers a universal platform across all our systems that can enhance efficiency, decrease training costs and time and promote scheduling flexibility.

Image quality, advanced insights, workflow and support

    • Image quality: Achieve high resolution of superficial structures, as well as deep penetration, with exceptional tissue information at greater depths with less noise.
    • Advanced insights: Visualize real-time 3D/4D images and compare images from other modalities alongside real-time ultrasound images.
    • Workflow: System design supports efficient workflow and ease of use, regardless of operator experience.
    • Trusted partner: Tailor support to your needs with advanced collaboration tools, clinical application education and services that help you tackle the business side of healthcare.

    Advanced tools for MSK ultrasound

    • Philips Flow Viewer delivers 3D-like images of vascular flow topography.
    • Panoramic view enables the capture of large anatomical structures in a single view.
    • Needle Visualization enhances the needle tip for support in lesion access.
    • Strain elastography enables assessment of tissue stiffness.
    • 3D/4D imaging allows visualization of the full musculoskeletal structure from all angles.
    • The eL18-4 transducer supports a wide range of MSK anatomies, with PureWave crystal transducer technology for outstanding image quality, even in technically difficult patients.3
