Frequently Asked Questions
Does straightening damage my hair?
If you use your Philips hair straightener correctly, you will not damage your hair. However, when you straighten your hair regularly, it will need extra care.
Give your hair a break
If you do not achieve the desired look the first time you straighten a section of your hair, wait 20 seconds before repeating the process.
We also recommend that you allow your hair at least a full day's and night's rest to give it the chance to recover.
Heat can cause hair damage such as split ends or dried-out hair
If you use a hair straightener regularly, your hair will need extra care, e.g. by applying heat serum after washing.
Give your hair some extra love.
You can safely use your straightener on a regular basis. However, the more often you use it, the more care you need to take of your hair. Make sure you use hair care products that condition and moisturise your hair.
Before straightening, use a heat protecting spray or serum to avoid heat damage.
Take care of your straightener
Good maintenance of your straightener is also essential to prevent damage to your hair. Make sure you keep the plates clean. The styling products used in your hair can end up on the plates and cause your hair to break or pull at your hair.
