Philips Philippines pledges its continued commitment to healthcare technology as it opens newly renovated office

As the Philippines tackles the challenges of the future, the new Philips Philippines facilities will foster greater collaboration to deliver relevant solutions to the local population

Manila, Philippines - Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, opened the newly renovated Philips office in the Philippines. This further reaffirms the company’s commitment to improving the health of people in the Philippines.  The new office not only provides a comfortable space for Philips employees but also cements the company’s commitment to grow alongside the country.

The new office is better equipped to strengthen resources as Philips strives to create greater impact and aid healthcare delivery to even more people. There are many healthcare challenges that lie in the future, but Philips Philippines Country Manager Ashwin Chari said: “We see these as opportunities to advance innovation, where technologies such as artificial intelligence, telehealth and advanced imaging solutions are enabling faster, more precise care.”

Philips has been in the Philippines for more than 100 years. Philips began its operations in 1918 originally as a company focusing on lighting products and short-wave radios. Philips is now a leading health technology company introducing innovations to seamlessly bring together people, data and technology to help our customers achieve their Quadruple Aim: improving the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction), improving the health of individuals and populations, improving the work life of health professionals, and reducing the per capita cost of healthcare.

The office houses Philips businesses related to Precision Diagnosis, Image-Guided Therapy, Connected Care, Personal Health and also a business services center to support Philips’ regional operations.  Philips delivers integrated products and services to consumers and the healthcare industry by leveraging on its clinical expertise and consumer insights, as well as advanced technology to enable better outcomes across the health continuum – from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and home care.  Philips has also transformed into a health technology solutions company offering a range of value added services to healthcare providers to help improve their operations from hospital design and planning to technology managed services and financing solutions.

The Philippines faces a rising prevalence of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Being an archipelago, there is a pressing need to provide healthcare to millions of Filipinos dispersed across these islands. This has driven the need to find innovative ways to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and timely for the population, and enable individuals to be more aware and take ownership of their health.

Chari reiterated the importance of collaboration across various stakeholders in Philippine society. “We believe in the role that innovation and technology can help drive more inclusive care for all, together with collaboration with our customers, the Philippine government, and other industry stakeholders. As the Philippines continues to advance its economic growth, it is equally important to ensure a healthy workforce and population. We are moving ahead in its efforts to transform healthcare in the digital age.”
