Philips Electronics and Lighting, Inc. (PELI) successfully culminated its Simply Healthy campaign last April 27, 2013. The campaign involved fifty underprivileged families from Barangay Matandang Balara, and focused on educating them with easy and practical tips on healthy living.
"We are heartened that after the four-month run of our Simply Healthy program, these families now fully understand the importance well-being to the overall quality of life. Through healthy eating, regular self-examination, and use of earth-friendly products, all members of the family are given the opportunity to lead better lives, and enable them to realize their full potential," said Philips' County Manager Fabia Tetteroo – Bueno.
The Simply Healthy campaign, which kicked off last February 2013, was broken down into three sessions. The first session concentrated on family nutrition and proper food preparation while the second session focused on women’s health. The third session focused on energy efficiency and climate change.
Aside from Philips representatives, the awarding ceremony was attended by Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Matandang Balara Barangay Captain Beda Torrecampo. The culminating activity awarded the 10 barangay coordinators who helped gather families to join the Simply Healthy program, as well as the top 12 families who showed the most improvement in overall health and well being.
On top of recognizing the program’s top performers, Philips also donated two Philips Avent breast pumps to the Quezon City Breast Feeding Center. In return, guests enjoyed performances by the children who joined the campaign. A basic medical checkup, together with a hearty buffet lunch, was also given to the families present.
The Philips Simply Healthy campaign was made possible in partnership with the Quezon City Vice Mayor’s Office, I Can Serve Foundation, WWF - Philippines, and doctors from St. Luke’s Medical Center.
